On June 15th 2024, we decided to take a little hike on the Indian Point Preserve Trail. It was our last evening in the area. So we decided that after eating dinner at Helen’s (check out their awesome Blueberry Pie) that we needed to walk off a little bit of our delicious dinner. So I found the Indian Point Preserve Trail on the Alltrails App.
The trail is listed on the app as an easy hike and only .8 miles. This was exactly what I was looking for. The directions on the map tell you to drive up someone’s driveway. However, that in inaccurate. We found it by driving for just a few extra seconds and entered the community on the right. I saw where the trail starts on the map, so I just kept driving until I saw the trail head on the right. There is a small gravel parking area that didn’t seem to get a ton of use, but was well maintained. I think the trail is probably used most by the residence of the community that it’s located in.
The trail is an out and back trail where we descended gradually until we reached the water. There is a couple of picnic tables at the far end of the trail that would be a great place for a picnic. Who knows the seals may even come join. We heard some seal’s on our walk but never got to see any unfortunately.
We enjoyed this little hike. It was a wonderful evening with a beautiful sunset. We couldn’t have asked for a better short evening hike. Thankfully, we had some bug spray from our cabin or we may not have enjoyed it as much.
