We are not extreme couponers by any means, but we do love saving money and getting good deals on trips and necessities. We have included some of the ways we have found to save money along the way.
There are several apps that we recommend downloading. The first is Dash. Dash app has many deals in your specific area for restaurants. There are also hotel deals for cash back. This would be a great way to save money on traveling.
The next app is Drop. You will link your Credit card to the app and “activate” the offers. Once you shop at the stores with active offers, you will earn cash back that you can redeem for gift cards. Last year at Christmas, I redeemed my points (along with Credit Card points) for gift cards and did not pay a penny of my own money for Christmas gifts. There is also an option for an Airbnb gift card that would help with travel budgets! This app is our favorite, by far! Plus you can play Basketball daily for additional points, Tim’s favorite part.
Upside app has cash back options for gas stations. You can search the area you are in for nearby gas stations and see the cash back/gallon amount. This saves so much money when purchasing gas on trips. You can redeem your cash back for gift cards or transfer to a bank account. Make sure to claim the offer right before pumping and use the linked card on your app. Restaurant cash backs are now on Upside. We have not used this yet, but it looks similar to the Dash app.
Next up, groceries. Ibotta app. Before hitting the grocery store, link your store loyalty card (if applicable) and add the offers you plan on purchasing. You will need to scan in your receipt for some stores. I redeem my cash back straight to my bank account once it hits the threshold. I have used Ibotta since 2014 and always check for offers before going to the grocery store! The money back could go in a special account for travel only.
