Barker Dam is one of the shorter and busier trails in Joshua Tree National Park. At 1.3 miles long this trail is for everyone. You will see the lake, a dam, a stream, and many Joshua Trees on the back half of the trail. There are even some Petroglyph’s you can view on this trail as well. Make sure you have water with you! Although, that should be a given considering you are visiting a desert.
Nestled in the Mojave Desert you can get to this trail from Palm Springs California in about 1hr 15min or so. If you do choose to come to Joshua Tree National Park, I would suggest preparing to enjoy at least half of your day there so you can enjoy the park. It costs $25 to get in, unless you have the America the beautiful pass. The America the Beautiful National Park Pass is only $80 for a whole year. If you plan on going to at the least 3 National Parks, Monuments, or any National Recreation area then I would suggest getting that pass.
