We have visited San Antonio, Texas once and was able to visit almost everything we wanted over the 4 days. Luckily we were able to fly in early and leave in the afternoon on the last day to take better advantage of our trip. We decided we would utilize the public bus system VIA for the duration of our trip. It was easy to find routes using the apps and purchase daily bus passes ($2.75/adult/day). We stayed downtown at the Westin Riverwalk which was very convenient to explore the Riverwalk and downtown area.
If you have or haven’t visited San Antonio you know about the Riverwalk and the Alamo. Which are both awesome! We spent most of our time on the Riverwalk, but visited many other places outside of the Riverwalk. And you should too!
One of our favorited places on our San Antonio trip was the Japanese Tea Garden. Located about 10 minutes north of downtown, it is an easily accessible location. The garden has a beautiful waterfall, plenty of places to just sit down, relax and take in the garden. It also has several trails inside the garden so that you can branch out and enjoy every little corner of the garden.
Now lets talk about food. San Antonio has no shortage of food, but Schilo’s German-Texan Restaurant is the best of the best. We went there for breakfast on our last morning there. I suppose that is a good thing because if we had discovered it on the first day we would have eaten there every morning. Ok, so maybe we wish we would have discovered it on our first day so that we could have. The pancakes were to die for, without any question the best pancakes either of us had ever had in our lives! The next time we are in San Antonio we will be going to Schilo’s, no doubt.
Then there is Taco Cabana. Taco Cabana is just a little fast food place were you can get some really good cheap taco’s. Which are fantastic, but the margaritas! The margaritas are simply amazing, and only $3.00 a piece! You can not find a better deal than that anywhere! Downtown on the Riverwalk you’ll spend at minimum $9-10 on a margarita. Which we did, but it just wasn’t nearly as good as those $3.00 margarita’s from Taco Cabana. Honestly, just writing about it makes me want to move to Texas just so I can get those $3 margarita’s whenever I please.
