Finding dinner in the Nags Head area can be challenging. What I mean by that is there isn’t a ton of options; however, all options on Google seemed like a good place to go. We ended up narrowing it down to just two places based off the Google reviews and menu. We liked the menu at Sam & Omie’s and decided to give a try. When we arrived we were a bit worried of the possibility of a rather long wait. We knew that no matter where we went there was a good possibility of that. Before going in we decided if the wait was longer than 30 minutes then we will try something else. The hostess said that it would be 30-40 minutes so we decided to wait.
While waiting for a table, several people coming out said it was well worth the wait. We started getting excited in anticipation of what our taste buds were about to experience. Then we heard the hostess call out a table for two several times, then about five minutes later they asked again for the same name. That meant our wait time should decrease and sure enough it did! While waiting we had looked at the menu so we already had picked out what we wanted so we ordered quickly. Cassie had a garden salad with fried shrimp. Tim had the fried combo with shrimp, scallops, fries, and onion rings (for Cassie). Each came with a piece of heavenly corn bread as well.
Our waitress was on her game. She was running around about three times as fast as any of the other waitresses we saw in the restaurant. She kept our drinks filled, our food came out within about ten minutes and she gave us our ticket in timely. When you have a server like that it makes the experience all the better. Servers like that turn okay food into good food and good food into great food.
Our food was extraordinarily delicious! The shrimp was oh so perfect, the scallops were super juicy, and the fries were incredible. We already mentioned the corn bread, but its worth mentioning again. Neither one of us actually like corn bread, but when it’s like cake then that changes the game. Quite simply put, it was just heaven on earth.
This was no doubt one of the best experiences we have ever had in a restaurant. The next time we are in the Nags Head area, you can bet that we will be stopping here again for sure!
Check out Sam and Omie’s!
