The Bradley Falls Overlook Trail in Saluda, North Carolina is a beautiful trail that you do not want to miss! The trail is about 2.1 miles long out and back that took us through an open meadow before coming down to the creek. Unfortunately, if you are unprepared, aren’t agile, or are an inexperienced hiker this is where the trail will end for you. The trail requires crossing the creek in order to continue the trail. The creek is deep in spots. There are rocks to cross, but they aren’t that easy. It requires some creativity for sure.
We were able to find our way across by being creative about getting across the rocks to the other side. I recommend bringing a towel to this trail just in case, or wear appropriate hiking gear that can be worn in water.
Once on the other side of the creek will begin an ascent toward the top of the mountain. This part of the trail had many twist and turns with beautiful views of the mountain side. The ascend can be steep at times which is in part why the Alltrails App has the trail rated as moderate. Toward the end of the trail there is an overlook to the left. The climb down the stairs is steep but so well worth it. We were there in late evening so it wasn’t the best time for a picture of the falls. Here is the picture we were able to get:
Here is another picture from by the creek:
All in all I highly recommend this trail for experienced hikers, not so much for the inexperienced. The inexperienced can still walk down to the creek and see how beautiful it is. It is totally worth it.
In the Western North Carolina area and want to check out more falls? I highly recommend Socco Falls near Maggie Valley and Cherokee: https://iveysadventures.com/soco-falls-trail-maggie-valley-nc/
