On Friday June 14th 2024 we got the pleasure of walking around the Cadillac Summit Loop Trail. Located in Acadia National park, the trail goes around a half mile of the Cadillac Mountain Summit. The views from the trail are out of this world! One piece of advise for parents with babies would be: Make sure you have ear muffs for your baby. Luckily we had a beanie for our child’s head, but it didn’t quite cover his ears. So I had to walk around covering his ears with my hands the whole trail. It’s a summit of a mountain so its obviously going to be windy most of the time. As first time parents we just weren’t prepared for that. We still enjoyed it though and Traxton must have too, because he certainly seemed curious.
One major note for this trail is that you must have reservations to drive the Cadillac Summit Road. It only costs $6 and is well worth it. There is usually plenty of reservations available. We booked our reservation two weeks in advance and had our pick of Friday or Saturday at anytime we wanted. We chose Friday thinking that Saturday would be a little busier. It turns out we chose the right day because Saturday morning’s weather was a bit rainy with even more wind.
The elevation is about 1500ft. Since the mountain is right on the coast at only 1500ft elevation it actually feels like you are much higher up. We could see quite well for it being a cloudy day. I imagine that on a clear sky day the views would be even more breathtaking.
Although, it was windy and the trail went up and down; it was actually very easy to walk. A trip to Cadillac Summit Loop Trail is a must have for Acadia National Park visits. We highly recommend it for sure!
