On Friday June 14th 2024 we found the Compass Harbor Trail in Bar Harbor, Maine. The AllTrails App had this trail listed as a .8 mile out and back trail. However, after looking at the map of the trail I noticed that there is a loop. So of course we turned it into a loop. The App didn’t quite track us all the way around the loop so that may be why Alltrails just has it listed as out and back.

The trail still ended up being about .8 miles total with the loop. The trail was super easy to walk with some elevation changes but nothing very steep.
The trail is actually located inside Acadia National Park boundaries. Although, the trail head parking area is not. The views were quite wonderful. We spent some time taking in the scenery. As with most area’s in Acadia National Park, we would have loved to spend more time taking in this trails views.
On our way back there was what appeared o be the foundation of an old house. The house foundation is actually what’s left of the “Old Farm”. Google maps even has it shown with a symbol in the area.
After walking past the foundation the trail descends back down to the trail head with beautiful forest views.
We highly recommend this trail on your visit to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor.
