The views from the Slate Mountain Trail are fantastic. It is a 4.4 mile hike to the summit and back, which isn’t bad at all for a mountain. The first part of the trail you will pass by beautiful wild flowers. Along with the wild flowers you will see Dwarf Mistletoe. On this trail there are many signs telling you what some of the vegetation is, which to me is really cool. Not being from here I’m not sure what some of the plants are so it is nice to learn. It helped me enjoy this awesome trail just that much more.
Once you get to the summit of the Slate Mountain Trail there are panoramic views of Mt Humphreys and you can even see a very small part of the Grand Canyon to the north. I will absolutely go back to this trail, hopefully it will be sunny next time. I recommend if your ever in the area to check it out.
