Soco Falls Trail – Maggie Valley, NC

On a cool crisp morning in late October I decided to stop at Soco Falls Trail in Maggie Valley, NC. It’s safe to say this was a good decision. There was a small parking area off the side of the road and I luckily was the only one there. The trail itself is super short. It’s only .17 miles long but is very steep. I recommend wearing hiking boots for this trail as it is very rocky and can be very muddy. There is a deck viewing area about halfway down. I stopped there at first and I could see the falls on the right.

After the deck viewing area it gets extremely steep and even more rocky. Once at the bottom of the trail though I took in a scene that was absolutely breathtaking. The two falls together was stunning. I could have sat there all day and just soaked in the sound and beauty of the falls.

The hike back up is extremely strenuous and difficult. Which equals a lot of fun for me! I was paying for it by time I got to the top though, but worth every bit of it. I would absolutely do it again in a heartbeat to see the amazing scene I got to see at the bottom.
